Notes about Jan Jan Ruelens

Jan was gegoed onder Terover (Alphen) en te Gilze. Hij woonde te Alphen, zoals blijkt uit het oudste cijnsboek van Gilze, waarin hij als Jan Ruelens tAlfen te boek staat, als bezitter van een beemd in Wouwebroeck. Deze beemd had hij na 1456 verkregen van Donys Wouter Ansems. Vermoedelijk bezat hij ook land onder Oosterhout, waar op 24 oktober 1499 Maria, Jan Ruelens huisvrouw, en Jan, haar man en voogd, een stuk land transporteerden. Op 5 november 1499 was hij al overleden: Maria weduwe wijlen Jan Ruelens kocht toen te Alphen een erfrente.
