Een nakomeling van de edelman Van Rinia is Ritsk van Rynia (Rinia), overleden in 1618. Hij was grietman van Westdongeradeel, en buitengewoon afgevaardigde in de Raad van State te 's Gravenhage om te onderhandelen over de wapenstilstand met Spanje (het Twaalfjarig Bestand). Hij is ook de voerder van het getoonde familiewapen van de Van Rinia's.
