Er wordt te Princenhage een Petrus Poppelers geboren in 1692, maar die lijkt wat te oud te zijn voor de kinderen die nog in 1769 verwekt worden bij de tweede vrouw van Petrus. Vermoedelijk is 'onze' Petrus geboren rond 1715, en zeer waarschijnlijk te Princenhage. Hij is eerst getrouwd met Elisabetha Joannis Lijten, maar trouwt op 29 februari 1756 te Princenhage met Catharina van der Cuijp, met wie hij nog enkele kinderen krijgt.
