Bij de doop van Petrus Marci is Antonius Adriaenssen de peter, en Elisabeth Otten de meter. Op 26 oktober 1637 wordt Petrus nog genoemd als "poortier van de Haeghdijcxe poort". Een probleem met de vaststelling wie zijn ouders zijn, is het feit dat hij pas later de naam MARCI gaat gebruiken. Daarvoor gebruikt hij het patroniem CORNELISSE in diverse (soms latijnse) vormen. Zijn vader heette dus waarschijnlijk Cornelis.
