Notes about Gaele Yges Galama

Volgens het "Stamboek van de Friese Adel": 'earne oars: Gale Atta zin te Koudum'. Gala Yges Galama woonde te Koudum in het Zuidwesten van Friesland.

In 1443 sloeg Gale (of: Gaele) met andere Vetkopers beleg voor het bolwerk de "Spyker" te Hemelum, gebouwd door de monniken aldaar, behorend tot de Schieringers. Het gehele dorp werd verwoest. De Schieringers verwoestten daarna het Galama Huis en zijn hele omgeving (aldus Worp van Thabor).

Het huwelijk van Gale en Trijn was voor de voorlopige vrede een goed huwelijk. Gale kwam uit een Vetkopersgeslacht en Trijn uit een geslacht van Schieringers.

Vlak voor zijn dood in 1470 is Gale nog mede afgevaardigde geweest naar de hertog van Bourgondië (Karel de Stoute 1467-1477) om een nieuwe oorlog te voorkomen.
