Jannetje stamt af van Pieter Drouwe, een in het Franse Marseille geboren immigrant, die op 23 mei 1648 in Amsterdam trouwt met de eveneens uit Marseille afkomstige Magdalena Bertran. Deze namen zijn waarschijnlijk fonetisch geschreven indertijd. Pieter hadden twee zoons. De eerste is de zijdegreinwerker Jan Pieterse de Roue (Amsterdam, 1652), getrouwd met Lijsbeth Gerrits. Jan Pieterse en Lijsbeth hadden vijf kinderen: Marike (1688 - 1747), Tobias (1652 - voor 1709), Anna (1680 - ?), Pieter ( 1675 - ?) en nog een Pieter (1681 - ?). De twee dochters en de eerste Pieter (die waarschijnlijk jong gestorven is, gezien de naam van zijn jongere broertje), zijn niet de voorouder van Janneke. De tweede zoon van Pieter en Magdalena is Denijs Peeterse Droue. Hij trouwde met Maria Hendrickx, en ze kregen vier kinderen: Anna (1684 - ?), nog een Anna (1685 - ?), Hendrik/Henricus (1689 - ?) en Peter/Petrus (ook 1689 - ?).

Jannetje werd gedoopt in de Oude Kerk van Amsterdam.
