Hermes Celosse vluchtte naar Engeland bij het begin van de Tachtigjarige Oorlog. In 1572 was hij in Colchester waar hij "questie had" (ruzie) met zijn vrouw, die hij er van verdacht goederen uit zijn huis te hebben ontvreemd. In 1573 was hij in Sandwich, waar hij in 1578 ouderling was. In 1581 was hij afgevaardigde naar de Synode te Middelburg en reisde hij terug via Antwerpen. Van 1582 tot 1592 was hij 'scriba' (schrijver?) van Sandwich. In 1594 was hij predikant te Giessen-Nieuwkerk en in 1604 te Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. Hij huwde (2e) op 8-6-1604 te Dordrecht met Aelken Willems Postel. Samen met deze was hij op 1 januari 1625 lidmaat te Hendrik Ido Ambacht.
