Trouwt (1) 1184 Agnes, gravin van Nevers, ovl. 02.02.1192. Vergezelde koning Philips II Augustus op de Derde Kruistocht. Hij kon de heerschappij over Constantinopel zelf niet aantreden, daar hij op de heenweg reeds in gevangenschap geraakte. De kroon kwam aan zijn vrouw Yolande, waarna zijn middelste zoon Robert hem opvolgde, onder wiens regering het koninkrijk Tessaloniki voor het rijk verloren ging.
