Iets uitgebreider wil ik ingaan op de negen vermisten uit Goirle.
Te beginnen met Jacobus van de Flaas, te Goirle gedoopt op 2
september 1789 als zoon van schoenmaker Jan Baptist van de(r)
Flaas en Jacoba Havermans.7

Als de lijst van vermisten wordt opgesteld, is zijn vader juist
enkele maanden overleden. Zijn moeder sterft te Goirle in 1826,
maar pas in 1844 worden de erfgoederen publiek verkocht door
notaris Bossers uit Loon op Zand. Hierbij worden genoemd de
kinderen Jan Francis, schoenmaker te 's-Hertogenbosch, Mathijs,
schoenmaker te Goirle, Maria Catharina, gehuwd met metselaar
Antonie van Loon te Goirle, Johanna, gehuwd met schoenmakerherbergier
Hendrik van der Foulaert, eveneens te Goirle, en Adriana,
weduwe van chirurgijn Jan van den Broek, woonachtig te
Waspik. Jacobus van de Flaas wordt niet meer genoemd en is dus
niet teruggekeerd.
