Arnoldus van der Flaes
, gedoopt te Goirle in september
1715, was schepen, herbergier en „commies van de thol tot
Goirle". Hij werd begraven te Bergeijk op 8 oktober 1757.
Zijn vrouw, Helena Maria Vijgen, met wie hij op 18 augustus 1738
te Goirle trouwde, werd aldaar gedoopt in februari
1720 als dochter van Jan Vijgen en Dymphna Jan de Jongh.
Jan Vijgen was „commies van den groote Brabantse lant thol
tot Goirle". In 1782 werd door Helena Maria Vijgen de eed
afgelegd als dorp s vroed vrouw; zij werd begraven te Goirle op
6 maart 1794. Naast het tolhuis in de herdgang Kerk bezat
het echtpaar een boerenbedrijf in de herdgang Dorp. De erfdeling van de nagelaten goederen vond plaats in 1795 door
de kinderen Jan Baptist, schoenmaker van beroep, Cornelia,
getrouwd met Peter de Ros (Laros) in Venloon, en Maria
Catharina, getrouwd met Abraham de Laure.
