Notes about Wilhelmina Maria Adriana "Mien" van Erven

Mien van Erven was een eigenzinnig meisje uit een trots gezin dat op 13 jarige leeftijd het fabriekswerk verruilde om thuis geld te verdienen met de naaimachine. Deze naaimachine is altijd haar lust en haar leven gebleven.
Als 15 jarig meisje liep ze /zoals zij zelf zegde/ achter de broek van Nord Botermans aan. Ze werden tot over hun oren verliefd en trouwden in 1943, midden in de 2de wereldoorlog. Dankzij haar coupeusekunsten ontwikkelde zij gedurende de oorlog met de boeren een goede ruilhandel, kleding voor eten.
Nadat zij in Haarlem haar diploma `lerares coupeuse`behaald had werden er thuis aan het Oranjeplein in Goirle slaapkamers verbouwd tot haar atelier. Hierin heeft zij vele vrouwen uit Goirle en omstreken opgeleid. Na zo´n 50 jaar op het Oranjeplein te hebben gewoond verhuisde zij naar de Melkweg in Goirle. Haar laatste jaren verliepen via het Goirlese verzorgingstehuis `De Schakel` naar het Goirlese verpleeghuis Sint Elisabeth, waar zij overleden is
