Marijke Botermans was kleuterleidster. Voor haar huwelijk met Willem van de Vrande was zij hoofd van de kleuterschool van de Trouwlaan in Tilburg. Na de geboorte van Joris was zij jarenlang hoofdleidster van de eerste (en lange tijd enige) peuterspeelzaal van Goirle, de Marmot. Ais actrice was zij lange tijd verbonden aan de toneelgroep Perspektief, daarna aan de Torenspelers. Na haar scheiding met Willem van de Vrande werd zij yoga-docente en trouwde zij met Toine van den Hurk. Samen runden zij Ahimsa, een yoga-centrum in de Willem II-straat in Tilburg. In 1998 overleed zij aan leukemie.
