Notes about Lambertus Weterings

De aanbesteding van de kerk van O.L.V. ter Hemelopneming van Zuiddorpe had plaats op 20 december 1885.
Het werk werd gegund aan de laagste inschrijver in casu Cornelis Mulders uit Raamsdonkveer voor fl. 25.298, .
Raamsdonkveer ligt op een negental kilometer van Oosterhout, waar Lambertus Weterings werd geboren op 16 februari 1859
Op 8 februari werd met de bouw begonnen. Lambertus Weterings hielp als timmerman aan de bouw van het dakgebinten en torenspits
Met toestemming van Mgr. Petrys Leyten, bisschop van Breda, werd de eerste steen gelegd op 12 april 1886 en kerkelijk ingezegend door pastoor Joannes Melchior Genet, pastoor van de parochie, bijgestaan door de pastoors Antonius Weterings uit Sas van Gent, Adrianus Lert uit Terneuzen, Joannes Laanen uit Philippine, Jacobus Leysen uit Koewacht en door de heren onderpastoors Jacobus Genet uit Sas van Gent en Joannes Middelaar uit Koewacht.
Architekt Petrus van Genk uit Leur had bij deze plechtigheid de leiding. Op 11 september werd het hoogaaltaar geplaatst. De maker ervan is Jozef van Genk, woonachtig te Antwerpen. De kosten hiervoor bedroegen fl. 1600. Op 8 oktober werd de kerk geconsacreerd. Zij staat momenteel onder monumentenzorg.

Het bedrijf van Cornelis Mulders was gelegen aan de Keizersdijk nr. 69 te Raamsdonksveer. Het bedrijf heeft ook meegewerkt aan de bouw van de R.K. aldaar in 1898. Na de voltooiing van die kerk in 1898 is het bedrijf van de heer Mulders failliet gegaan.
De betrokken RK te Raamsdonksveer is in de tweede wereldoorlog verwoest door terugtrekkende Duitsers.
