Notes about Nicolaus Botermans

Nicolaas (Claes) BOTERMANS, herbergier op den Haensberg te Hoilten, gedoopt op 25-09-1701 te Gilze (getuige(n): Waltherus Botermans), begraven op 22-09-1770 te Gilze.

Nicolaas trouwt in 1739 bij zijn schoonvader in en wordt dan hoofdbewoner met acht kinderen.
De eghteluijden maakten hun testament ten gunste van de langstlevende. Johanna kon niet schrijven en Nicolaas kon niet schrijven wegens zijn ziekte. Vandaar ook dat het testament werd opgemaakt in hun woonhuijs tot Hoilten. (GAGR R 84,63v dd. 07-01-1743)
Bij de erfdeling van de familie Louis Smits kwamen vier percelen heijde aan Johanna Laureijs Louis Smits en haar echtgenoot Nicolaes Cornelis Botermans. Een perceel was gelegen aghter 's-heeren hoeve tot Hoilten, een ander werd genoemd de Bolheijninge tot Hoilten, het derde was het Block tot Hoilten, noord ervan lag het Wagenbroeck, en het vierde perceel was genoemd de Blommaerts, gelegen in 't Gilze broeck (Gilze Vucht). (GAGR R 38,100 dd. 08-04-1745)
De egteluijden Botermans-Smits, wonende tot Hoilten, leenden 400 gulden onder hypotheek. In onderpand werd gegeven een huijs et cetera groot 9 loopensaet gelegen te Hoilten en een aenstede van 10 loopensaet, gelegen op den Haansbergh aldaar. (GAGR R 40,22v dd. 24-03-1752)
Deze aanstede van 10 loopensaet dient andermaal als onderpand bij een lening van f 1000,-- in 1761, welke schuld in 1784 werd afgelost. (GAGR R 41,29 dd. 18-04-1761)
Deze zelfde aanstede wordt met nog 9 andere percelen na het overlijden van hun ouders verkocht door Cornelis, Petrus, Jacobus, Maria huijsvrouw van Hendrik Tops, en Gerard gehuwd met Johanna Schoenmakers. (GAGR R 46,114v en 116v dd. 12-12-1782)
De stede van 9 loopensaet te Hoilten wordt door hen verkocht in 1782. In deze verkoop zijn ook verschillende percelen begrepen, die met name zijn genoemd, zoals het zaijland den dijk, de Keijsersacker en den grooten acker, de wijden het Steeken, Peeter Leenaerts weijken, percelen met namen als de agterste, de voorste en de hooge wijde; verder de Bogt, de voorste Ouwelijns en het Jnneemken. Alles gelegen tot Hoi/ten. (GAGR R 46,90 dd. 01-06-1782)

Ondertrouwd op 03-01-1739, gehuwd voor de kerk op 37-jarige leeftijd op 18-01-1739 te Gilze met Joanna SMITS, 21 jaar oud (VII.64), gedoopt op 11-07-1717 te Gilze (getuige(n): Adrianus Hermens et Eva Joannis Hermens), begraven op 11-09-1781 te Gilze, dochter van Laureijs Louis SMITS, tavemier Hulten, en Jacoba CASTELIJNS (Jacobmijn).
