Piet Tra ging op zijn 16de )net als zijn vader'werken bij de firma van Besouw textielfabriek in Goirle. In de avonduren volgende hij cursussen weven en electriciteit. Piet trouwde met Jans van Boxtel die ook bij van Besouw werkte. Op zijn trouwdag was hij daar meesterknecht. In 1920 werd hij chef/machinist bij de Regenboog in Tilburg en verhuisde toen ook naar de Bredaseweg in Tilburg.Teriu in Goirle gingen zij in 1925 in de Kalverstraat wonen Piet heeft toen enkele jaen bij de `N.V. Goirlese Jutespinnerij` gewerkt, toen eigendom van burgemeester Rens. Begin jaren dertig volgde de liquidatie van deze spinnerij en Piet stond op straat. Hij heeft toen gedurende bijna een jaar electriciteit aangelegd in vele huizen, maar ging daarna werken bij de firma van Puyenbroek, ook een textielfebriek en wel tot zijn 69ste levensjaar.
Net als zijn vader was Piet een man van de muziek en zeer muzikaal. Op 10/jarige leeftijd was hij al aspirant/lid van de fanfare `Oefening en Uitspanning`. In 1920 secretaris/penningmeester en onder/directeur. Vader Frans stierf in 1927 en zoon Pîet werd met algemene stemmen benoemd tot nieuwe directeur In 1958 werd hij benoemd tot ere/directeur van deze harmonie.
ook op cultureel gebied heeft Piet veel betekend voor Goirle. In 1967 kreeg hij de ere/medaille van de gemeente Goirle. Hij zat in het bestuur van de Gioirlese muziekschool en was lid van de Gioirlese culturele raad vanaf de oprichting tot 1968.
Piet was ook bij andere muzikgezelschappen actief, hij waws instructeur harmoenie `Vogelenzang` in tilburg en instructeur en directeur van de Rielse fanfare `Muziek en Vriendschap`
Hij was bestuurslid van de Goirlese KAB en penningmeester van het Bondsgebouw.
