    Hallo Dominique,

    Even wil ik reageren op de vraag wat mijn vader deed. Wel even kort maar ik kan het niet laten.

    Mijn Vader was wever bij de wollenstoffen fabriek van Andre van Spaendonk en Zn,
    Ik meen in de Enschotsestraat. Nog na zijn 65ste, dus eigenlijk al met pensioen, is hij gevraagd om nog een kort tijdje terug te komen. Dat had iets te maken met KAARDEN LEZEN. Dat Is een oud gebruik in de weverij en mijn vader wist hoe dat zat.

    DE VOLGENDE INFORMATIE KOMT VAN HET
    REGIONAAL ARCHIEF TILBURG:

    WOLLENSTOFFENFABRIEK ANDRÉ VAN SPAENDONCK & ZONEN

    Deze wollenstoffenfabriek werd in 1898 opgericht door Andreas van Spaendonck, eerder medefirmant van Gebroeders van Spaendonck. Het bedrijf startte aan de Koestraat en breidde zich daar in de loop der tijd aanzienlijk uit. Ook ontstond er vlakbij een fabriekscomplex aan de Enschotsestraat. In 1960 werd nog een fabriekscomplex gebouwd op industrieterrein Kraaiven. Tien jaar later moest het bedrijf, dat ook bekend was onder de naam Spandon, mede wegens de buitenlandse concurrentie de deuren sluiten. Er werkten toen nog 630 personen.
