Heden overleed tot mijn innigste smerte mijn tedergeliefde Egtgenoot J. Geertzema, in den ouderdom van 72 Jaren en 10 Maanden, na dien wij byna 42 Jaren in een zoete Egtverbintenis met elkander hebben geleefd, geve hier van door dezen aan Vrienden en Bekenden kennis, verzoeke van brieven en rouwbeklag verschoont te worden.
Groningen, den 3 December 1798 CATHARINA TEPING, Wedw. J. Geertzema, begraven op 08-12-1798 te Groningen.

In het Breukdodenboek (collecteboek diaconie) staat Jan Geertsema genoteerd 08-12-1798 voor een relatief hoog bedrag van 6 gulden, 9 stuivers en 4 duiten. In de 'lijst van aangegeven lijken' staat 04-12-1798. Wellicht de koper in onderstaande transactie
