Geallieerde jachtvlieger mist doel op mitrailleurstelling DRU gebouw.Een tragisch gebeuren beleefde Ulft 1 dag voor de bevrijding, mw. Aalders-Gregoor en vijf van haar kinderen vonden de dood tijdens een beschieting met een Shrapnelgranaat die bestemd was voor een Duits luchtdoelafweer die geplaatst was boven op het dak van de DRU modelzolders . Hun huis stond tegenover de DRU fabriek waar nu Freriks woninginrichting is aan de Frank Daamenstraat, vroeger Keyenborg.

Bernardus Aalders verloor dus zijn vrouw en 5 kinderen bij
een verkeerd bombardement van de geallieerden op 30 maart 1945
en Jan Gerritsen stierf 19 juni 1942 in Anholt .
Vervolgens hertrouwde Bernardus Aalders met Bernardina Istemaas,
de weduwe van Jan Gerritsen.
