Notes about Dirk Hendrik Sr. Ezerman

Hij was organist en dirigent (en vrijmetselaar). Hij kreeg eerst les van zijn vader (organist van de Grote Kerk van Alkmaar), maar vertrok al vroeg naar Zierikzee waar hij op 11-04-1859 beiaardier werd van de hervormde gemeente. Hij heeft met zijn gezin gewoond aan de Poststraat 36, maar eerder waarschijnlijk ook op nummer 34. Later woonde hij aan de Oude Haven (nu Havenpark 13 en Havenplein 8 ?). Hij gaf pianolessen. Vanaf 1874 was hij ook kapelmeester van het muziekgezelschap Kunst en Eer. Daarnaast directeur van de muziekschool en dirigent van het plaatselijk koor. Hij componeerde de Turnmarsch voor piano (uitgeverij Noske). Hij overleed na een lang ziekbed, één maand na de dood van zijn zoon Willem. Van zijn begrafenis zijn nog een paar foto's (Familie-album Freek Derks en erven). Meer gegevens zijn te vinden in het Zeeuws Archief.
Dirk Hendrik en zijn vrouw kregen 10 kinderen, van wie er 4 voortijdig stierven (Evert,Katharina,Christina en Willem). De oudste, Jan Hendrik, werd sinds 1882 vermist.
