nr. 284 als zesde kind van Hendrik Adriaan Roelants (204) en van Maria de Graaff


(208).


Hij bezocht de Fransche school en later de Latijnsche school.


 


14 Mei 1852 ontving hij op de stadsteekenschool een getuigschrift en een zakpasser voor de best


gekeurde tekening.


 


20 September 1853 gaat hij naar de Clynische school te Rotterdam om voor apotheker opgeleid te worden.


 


8 Maart 1854 loot hij voor de nationale militie, trekt nr. 148 en is vrij.


 


27 Maart 1857 slaagt hij te Dordrecht voor het apothekersexamen.


 


11 April d.a.v. krijgt hij een betrekking bij de apotheker De Bosson te Dordrecht. 22 Juli d.a.v. verlaat hij die betrekking om voorlopig in de apotheek van zijn vader werkzaam te zijn.


 


10 Februari 1858 wordt hij lid van het natuurkundig genootschap Physica, waar van hij 11 januari 1860 2e voorzitter


wordt.


 


April 1860 wordt hij volontair bij de gasfabriek te Schiedam onder leiding van de heer Bryan.


 


Februari 1861 wordt hij directeur van de gasfabriek te Vlaardingen voor ƒ 720.


 


24 April 1862 verloofd hij zich te Vlaardingen met Theodora Alyda de Willigen (279).


 


1 Augustus 1862 vestigde hij zich in het huis Toepad E nr. 110. 16 Augustus 1862 koopt hij de scheepmakerij ‟s Landswelvaren en bouwde er het laatste hoekerschip en het eerste loggerschip. Dit schip droeg de naam “Hollander”.


 


25 Juli 1863 wordt hij 2e luitenant bij de schutterij.


 


26 Augustus 1863 treed hij te Vlaardingen in het huwelijk. Kerkelijk werd het ingezegend door Ds. Rhiem.


 


10 April 1865 wordt hij wijkmeester.


 


26 September 1866 wordt hij gekozen als lid in de commissie betreffende de opheffing en verdeling van de gemeente Vlaardingerambacht.


 


28 Januari 1868 wordt hij benoemd tot directeur van de stedelijke gasfabriek te Schiedam op een salaris van ƒ 2000, vrij woning, vuur en licht.


 


28 Mei 1886 wordt hij benoemd tot directeur van de waterleiding te Schiedam op een salaris van ƒ1000.


 


1 September 1898 krijgt hij na aanvraag wegens ongesteldheid eervol ontslag met toekenning van ƒ 1200 pensioen.


 


Hij vestigde zich te 's-Gravenhage in het huis Wilhelminastraat 37 in welk huis hij 4 februari 1901 overleed.


 


8 Februari d.a.v. werd hij op de begraafplaats Oud Eik en Duinen ter aarde besteld. Eigen graf 1e klasse nr. 1309.
