Notes about Hendrik Adriaan Roelants

9 augustus 1798, als derde kind van Johannes Roelants (144) en Johanna Jacoba van der Heim (146).
Hij bezocht te Schiedam de Hollandsche Fransche Latijnsche school en werd in augustus 1813 als leerling geplaatst in de apotheek van Dr. Gijsberti Hodenpijl onder leiding van de heer P. Hoezee. De heer Hoezee kreeg januari 1814 een aanstelling als apotheker 3e klasse aan het militair hospitaal te Breda waarheen hij hem volgde. Hij logeerde daar bij zijn grootmoeder C. Roelants Canters. De 7e april kreeg hij een aanstelling als leerling in het magazijn van geneesmiddelen te „s-Gravenhage onder leiding van de apotheker L.J. Baas. 20 Juli 1815 kreeg hij na gedaan examen een aanstelling als apotheker 3e klasse bij het militair hospitaal te Nijmegen, doch bleef gedetacheerd te „s-Gravenhage op een tractement van ƒ 500 ‟s jaars. Hij vroeg en verkreeg eervol ontslag, 8 februari 1819. 11 Februari deed hij te Dordrecht met goed gevolg examen als apotheker voor een stad. 1 November 1819 opende hij een apotheek te Schiedam.


8 Januari 1821 verloofde hij zich met Maria de Graaff (208). 11 Oktober 1824 trad hij in het huwelijk. Zij bewoonden een huis naast de apotheek aan de Hoogstraat nr. 123.
1 Juni 1834 verlieten zij hun woning waar zij 9 1⁄2 jaar gewoond hadden en verhuisden naar de Nieuwstraat Wijk E nr. 284. Januari 1837 werd hij bevestigd als Diaken van de Ned. Herv. Kerk. Ook werd hij in dat jaar lid van de geneeskundige kring te Schiedam. Januari 1844 werd hij bevestigd als ouderling. 11 April 1852 werd hij benoemd tot directeur van de Nuts bewaarschool.


20 December 1864 overleed hij te Schiedam, oud 65 jaren, en werd 24 december d.a.v. op de Algemene begraafplaats aldaar ter aarde besteld. Eigen graf plaats 3 graf 20.
