Notes about Jacobus Jan "Jan" de Klark

Vanaf 1938 tot na de capitulatie voor de Duitsers in 1940 was hij in militaire dienst. In de mobilisatietijd hadden ze tot taak de IJsselbrug tussen Zwolle en Hattem te bewaken. Daar werd veel kou geleden in de winter van 1939/40. In januari werd wacht gelopen bij 23 graden onder nul. Jan was tevens trompettist. Vanaf 1941 is hij in Nijmegen gaan werken als electro technisch tekenaar bij Beusker’s Apparaten Fabriek (BAF). Daar werden smeltveiligheden (zekeringen) gemaakt. Beusker had ook nog een gloeilampenfabriek: de SOL. Vanaf 1952 pendelde hij van Nijmegen naar Venlo, waar Beusker drie fabrieken had: Nedinsco, een vroegere dochteronderneming van Zeiss Jena, de Nederlandse Keramische Bedrijven (KERI), waar de porseleinen hulzen voor de zekeringen van de BAF gemaakt werden, en de Varta, geconfisqueerd van de Duitse Varta, de accumulatorenfabriek. Van deze laatste fabriek werd hij omstreeks 1963 bedrijfsleider, wat hij ook gebleven is, zelfs na een auto-ongeluk in 1971, waarbij hij een hersenbeschadiging opliep. Van af 1977 heeft hij niet meer gewerkt en zat hij volledig in de WAO (Wet Arbeids Ongeschiktheid).
