Doofheid opgelopen bij de NDSM-werf, waar Johannes werkte.

Wester- of Raamkerkhof, 1655 – 1866
In 1655 werd in een keur vastgelegd dat het Wester- en Noorderkerkhof te klein waren geworden. Bovendien wilde het stadsbestuur voorkomen dat de lijklucht van de kerkhoven besmettelijke ziekten zouden overbrengen. Het besluit wordt genomen om beide kerkhoven te verplaatsen en de oude te ontruimen. Uitbreiding ter plekke was zondermeer onmogelijk omdat ze inmiddels al midden in de stad lagen.
Het Westerkerkhof werd verplaatst naar het bolwerk ‘Rijkeroord’ bij de Raampoort, sindsdien ook bekend als het Raamkerkhof. Het kerkhof werd in beheer gegeven aan de Hervormde Kerk.
In december 1865 werd het Westerkerkhof, net als het Noorderkerkhof, gesloten. Rond de sluiting voerde de gemeente Amsterdam nog een korte strijd met de Hervormde gemeente over de vraag of doorgegaan mocht worden met begraven. De gemeente Amsterdam won het pleit en de Hervormde Gemeente sloot hun begraafplaatsen in 1866.
Waar ooit het Raamkerkhof lag, is nu een plantsoen.In 1875 kreeg de gemeente de terreinen van de Wester- en Noorderbegraafplaats op de bolwerken in handen. Daarvoor betaalde de gemeente een vergoeding van 903,15 gulden voor de bomen en opstallen. In 1876 werd besloten de voormalige begraafplaats in te richten als plantsoen en wandelplaats, ter vervanging van andere op te ruimen plantsoenen waar huizen werden gebouwd. Een deel van het bolwerk waarop de begraafplaats lag, verdween door het recht trekken van de Singelgracht. Erachter werd de Marnixstraat gerooid en op het rechthoekige terrein dat overbleef werd in 1880 een wat hoger gelegen plantsoen aangelegd. Het draagt vandMonument op het ossuarium (beenderkelder) van het Raamkerkhof op de Noorderbegraafplaats.aag de dag de naam 2e Marnixplantsoen.
Een deel van de botresten werd in 2000 bijgezet in een ossuarium op de Noorderbegraafplaats. Daar, op een kleine uitbreiding van de begraafplaats, is een eenvoudig monumentje opgericht. Abusievelijk staat hier op het monument Tweede Weteringplantsoen. Te zijner tijd zal hier een passend monument geplaatst worden.
