Deze Johannes, als zoon van Jacobus Hendrikus de Beurs en Annaatje Ran, is roomskatholiek geworden. Het volgend verhaalt hoe en waarom.
Jacobus huwde de r.k. Annaatje Ran, doch dit echtpaar had afgesproken dat de kinderen, indien het jongens waren, gereformeerd en indien het meisjes waren zij roomskatholiek zouden worden opgevoed.
Jacobus wilde niet de naam de Beurs in de r.k. registers. Zo gebeurde het dan ook en kwamen dominee en pastoor in huize de Beurs en raakten de kinderen over en weer bekend met de beide vormen van godsdienst.
Maar hoe vergiste Jacobus zich, want wat hij zelf gedaan had, namelijk een katholieke bruid kiezen, deed ook Johannes in de persoon van Hendrika Bleeker. Met dit verschil, dat Johannes r.k. werd en daarmede al hun nazaten. En dat werden er nogal wat! Zo is er dan toch een thans zeer wel bestaande r.k. groep de Beurs'en.
