Tegen het einde van 1743 ontvangt hij, via zijn voogden, het vaderlijk en moedelijk deel van zijn
erfenis. Hij koopt grond te Koog en laat daar, op de plaats waar de papiermolen "De Salamander
"ooit heeft gestaan (die verbrande op 09-09-1742) gelegen aan de oostkant van de Watering
bereikbaar via het Relckepad. (Nu Reëlenstraat) i november 1746 is de molen "De Matsman" klaar.
Op 25-02-1747 krijgt hij van schout en schepen de windbrief. In 1754 wordt hij 'overman van de
pellerij". Op 12-01-1769 wordt de molen overgedragen aan Jan Puts en Jan Josephsz. Dekker voor
fl.6250.
