Notes about Johan Gerard (Boety) Asbeek Brusse

J.G. Asbeek Brusse was known as "Boety" Asbeek Brusse. "Boety" was a nickname and is a derivation of "little brother". J.G. later named his son Boety to pass on his nickname.
Although born in Kampen, the Netherlands, when his father was a lecturer at the Military Academy of that town, Boety was raised in the East Java town of Kediri. He went back to Holland from 1914 till 1920 for his education. Back in the Netherlands East Indies, Boety studied at the "Sugar School" in Soerabaja and became a chemist at the sugar factory near Kediri, where his three children were born.
The family returned to the Netherlands in 1946 after three years of internment by the Japanese. Boety joined the Royal Dutch Airforce as a quality control inspector and distribution supervisor for compressed air breathing apparatus for air crews. He retired in 1967.
