Notes about Douwe Sytses

Douwe Sytses koopt met zijn vrouw "begeert bode en consent" een stuk hoogveen van zijn ouders voor dertig honderd caroli gulden (een caroli gulden had een waarde van 7 x onze vooroorlogse gulden) en vervolgens nog van anderen vele stukken. Volgens de landsordonnantie moest de koper zorgen dat binnen het jaar de koop gesloten was en deze driemaal over kerk en gerecht, waaronder het goed gelegen was geproclameerd werd, waarna het consent op de koop, tenzij protest daar tegen werd uitgebracht, door het gerecht gegeven.
Douwe woonde te Nieuw-Brongerga, te Heerenveen en op de Zestien Roeden in de Knijpe, waar hij overleden is in 1658.
Douwe was eigenerfde en veenbaas. Zijn naam leeft voort, verbonden aan een veenvaart, de "Douwe Sytseswijk".
