Notes about Willem "Willem" Boxma

Willem en zijn gezin verhuizen tussen 1861 en 1864 naar Odoornerveen. voor die tijd wonen ze aan de Asserwijk in Assen, waar ze in 1854 een insluiper hebben die flink wat geld ontvreemd: "Gisteren morgen is uit het huis van W. Boxma aan de Asserwijk, terwijl alle bewoners uit waren, uit een kabinet f 70,- intvreemd. De dader of daders hebben een raam opengeschoven en vonden den sleutel in het kabinet steken, zoodat de daad hun gemakkelijk genoeg gemaakt was. De justitie doet onderzoek" (bron: delpher, PDAC 21-6-1854).
In Schoonoord krijgt hij een beloning voor 20 jaar trouwe dienst: "Schoonoord, 12 Dec. 1883. De veenbaas W. Boxma alhier, twintig jaren werkzaam in de veenderijen van den heer G. M. Tetrode te Assen (eerst als arbeider en thans als veenbaas), ontving dezer dagen als blijk van erkentelijkheid voor twintigjarigen trouwen dienst van zijn patroon een fraaie zilveren tabaksdoos met toepasselijke inscriptie.
