Notes about Judith der Franken

Ter gelegenheid van heer eerste huwelijk, gekroond tot koningin te Verberie sur Oise op 1 Oct. 856. Huwt vervolgens haar stiefzoon, maar keert na diens dood (July 860) terug naar West-Francië waar zij op last van haar vader in verzekerde bewaring wordt gehouden te Senlis. Laat zich ontvoeren door Boudewijn rondom kerst 861 en vlucht met hem naar Lotharingen alwaar vermoedelijk gehuwd begin 862. Reist om aan het uitleveringsverzoek van haar vader en de door de Westfrankische bisschoppen over hen uitgesproken kerkelijke ban te ontkomen samen met Boudewijn naar Rome, waar zij paus Nicolaas I voor zich weten te winnen (mede omdat Boudewijn dreigt zich bij de Noormannen aan te sluiten).
