Muriel Annette (Boyd) Onkst, age 90, was born July 19th, 1924, and went to be with Jesus on Christmas day, 2014.
Muriel was the daughter of Harley and Emma (Cover) Boyd. She was a life-long resident of Modesto and lived much of her later life in the house where she was born. She worked as a dental assistant for a number of years.
At age 16, Muriel received Christ into her life and was baptized. She was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
On April 22, 1967, Muriel was married to Norman Onkst and they enjoyed life together for 25 years until his death in 1992.
As Muriel's health declined, she was cared for by faithful caregivers in her home. After a recent illness, she moved to English Oaks Convalescent Center, where she lived out her remaining days.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald, a brother Maurice and sisters-in-law Esther Boyd, and Doris Boyd. Surviving, is a sister-in-law Frances (Donald), brother Norman (Doris), and sister, Ruth Beery (Paul).
Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2015, 5pm - 8pm, at the Modesto District, Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2866 West Rumble Rd, Modesto. Funeral services will be at the same location, Saturday, January 3. 2015, 10 am.
Memorial gifts may be made to Brethren Heritage School, 3549 North Dakota Av, Modesto, CA 95368.
Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
