http://www.westergeest.net/nieuws/foestrumer/foestrumer0305.pdf in mijn archief onder nummer GFT 150 ten name van Johannes Mein(d)erts BEINTEMA geeft een overzicht van de bewoners van het Beintemahuis. In 1543, schrijft mr. A. J. Andreae, wordt al gesproken van een Banthiema-huys en volgens Andreae moet ene Sipcke Beintema in 1540 er de eigenaar van zijn. In 1621 en 1640 zijn Douwe Douwes BEINTEMA en Beijtske van PEIJMA er de bewoners/eigenaars van. In 1671 wordt het huis door Ecke Douwes Beintema verkocht aan de burgemeester van Dokkum. Daarmee is hij de laatste "echte Beintema" die de eigenaar was van het Beintemahûs. De plaats wordt verhuurd en omstreeks 1750 gekocht door Douwe KORNELIS. Een dochter van Douwe KORNELIS trouwt met Johannes Meinderts, die in 1786 boer was op Beintemahûs. En deze Johannes Meinderts neemt in 1812 de naam BEINTEMA als familienaam aan, ook al was hij helemaal geen familie van de vroegere BEINTEMA'S (2005 11 22).

So Johnnes Meinerts adopted the family name of Beintema on this date and declared and signed such at the Mairie in Oudwoude, Buitenpost, Leeuwarden, Vriesland.

His two surviving children, Lijsbeth, aged thirtyfive and Douwes aged thirtytwo years are listed as well on the registration. This must mean that they also adopted the surname Beintema from this date forward.
