Hij werd geassisteerd door zijn broer Jan die al in Leiden woonde en mogelijk Cornelisheeft overgehaald om zich ook in de sleutelstad te vestigen. De bruid was weduwe van Joost Joosten van Grensven. Zij woonde aan de Middelstegraft [-gracht]. Waarschijnlijk is Cornelis bij haar ingetrokken, want toen hij met Clara Bogards in ondertrouw ging woonde hij aan deze gracht. Clara woonde in Den Engel een buurtschap . dat thans onder Lisse ressorteert. Het trouwboek van de NederduitsGereformeerde Gemeente te Sassenheim vermeldt op 4 nov. 1674:

Cornelis Piettersen Hogewoningh, weduwnaar van Jannetgen Dircx, wonende tot Leijden,

met Clara Bogards, jongedochter, [beteken, nog niet gehuwd geweesd] wonende in den Engel,

tusschen Sasseheim en Lisse.

Als weduwnaar van Claertge Bogerts, wonende aan de Nieuwen Rhijn, ging Cornelis Hogewoning voor de 3e maal in ondertrouw.

Het paar kreeg toestemming om in Voorburgh te trouwen.
