schepen van de heerlijkheid Wakken. Hij woonde in Wakken in West Vlaanderen, een dorpje gelegen tussen Gent en Kortrijk., waar hij schepen was. Zo kwam hij geregeld te Gent en ontmoette Petronella die uit een Gentse familie kwam. In 1565 gingen ze in Gent wonen. Toen Parma voor Philips II heel Vlaanderen veroverde moesten de remonstranten de stad verlaten en zo vluchtten ze naar Londen.
