Casper Berkhoudt opende in september 1915 een eigen rijwielhandel in de Baanstraat die op deze plek tot aan zijn overlijden in 1956 zou blijven bestaan. In de jaren '30 was Berkhoudt dealer van Simplex, Union en Burgers en verkocht hij daarnaast fietsen van zijn eigen merk Bremo (Berkhoudt Rijwiel- En Motor-Onderdelen). In 1934 begon zijn 24-jarige zoon Casper Berkhoudt (jr.) aan de Alexander Numankade 59 hoek Van Brakelstraat, een eigen zaak. Ook hij assembleerde zelf fietsen en verkocht deze ondermeer onder het merk "Berkhoudt". De zaak aan de Alexander Numankade heeft tot ongeveer 1980 bestaan.
