Op zondag 11 februari overleed Hein Lek. De laatste tijd ging het niet goed met hem, het lichaam liet hem steeds meer in de steek. Hein heeft zijn leven lang langs de Westkanaalweg gewoond en gewerkt. Hij had het niet zo op het instituut kerk, maar hij wist ook dat je er niet helemaallos van kon zijn. 'De Regenboog' en af en toe een plantje van de kerk ter bemoediging, hij nam het aan. Aileen op de wereld zijn gaat gewoon niet. Je bent door je ouders op de wereld gezet en je hoopt dat er ook mensen zijn die je lichaam de laatste eer bewijzen. Want in dit Ijchaam hebben we Hein toch gekend. Het is onze christenplicht of als u wilt burenplicht om de doden te begraven. Na een korte dienst in de aula hebben we het lichaam van Hein op de begraafplaats aan de Westkanaalweg aan de aarde toevertrouwd en zijn ziel aanbevolen bij God. Dat hij mag ervaren dat God een barmhartige God is vol van lief de en leven (bron: de Regenboog, maart 2007, jaargang 7, nr. 2, blz. 6).
