    Kees was van oorsprong werkzaam in de elektrotechnische techniek en was immer geboeid in de werking van apparaten.
    Huishoudelijke apparaten zoals wasmachines, die hadden voor hem geen geheimen! Werd je onverwacht geconfronteerd met een met een defecte programmaklok of grommend kogellager? Één belletje naar Kees, en hij kwam direct met een passende oplossing voor je.
    Later werd Kees liefhebber voor kleine radio's, voornamelijk die met een bakelieten behuizing. En alle radio's die hij in zijn bezit kreeg werden vakkundig met originele onderdelen werkend gebracht.
    Kees werd al vroeg getroffen door een oogziekte waardoor hij visueel gehandicapt raakte. Maar probeerde altijd het beste ervan te maken; mede daardoor kwam hij in aanraking met de Gehandicaptensport Nederland waarvan hij een actief lid was. Hij heeft tot twee maal toe, deel uit mogen maken van de Nederlandse ploeg goalbal aan de Paralympics.
    Sportief als hij was, bleef hij tot het laatst toe actief, ook met hardlopen; dankzij een trouw maatje (buddy) kon hij ook die tak van sport beoefenen.
