      Pionier (sinds 1857 in 's- Gravenhage) op het gebied van onderwijs aan verstandelijk gehandicapten; 1835-1838 en 1839-1851 in Amersfoort waar hij een bewaarschool leidde; ontwikkelde hier een leesmachine of letterrad (bevindt zich in Museum Flehite) en stimuleerde zangonderwijs; er is een L.O.M.school (Dorresteinseweg 7) naar hem genoemd.
