    Hugo VII van Lusignan (1065-1151), bijgenaamd de Bruine, was een zoon van Hugo VI van Lusignan en van Hildegarde van Thouars. Samen met de heer van Parthenay, voerde hij langdurig strijd tegen de hertogen van Aquitanië, evenwel zonder succes. Vanaf de tweede helft van de 11e eeuw waren de Lusignans verwoede kruisvaarders. Zo trok Hugo samen met Lodewijk VII van Frankrijk in 1147 mee met de tweede kruistocht en stierf ook in het Heilig Land. Hugo was in 1109 gehuwd met Sarrasina van Lehay (1067-1144)
