    Godfried V (1113 - Le Mans, 7 september 1151), bijgenaamd de Schone, de Rechtvaardige en Plantagenet, was een zoon van graaf Fulco V van Anjou en Ermengarde van Maine. Zijn bijnaam Plantagenet ontleende hij aan het feit dat hij steeds een genst of ginster (heidebrem, planta genesta, plante genet) op zijn hoed droeg.

    Hij volgde zijn vader op als graaf van Anjou en Maine. Hij huwde in 1127 met Mathilde, de dochter en erfgename van koning Hendrik I van Engeland, en weduwe van keizer Hendrik V. Zij minachtte Godfried en meed hem eerst jarenlang, maar door zijn huwelijk met haar werd hij betrokken bij de burgeroorlog die er heerste tussen zijn vrouw en Stefanus van Blois. Na diens gevangenneming in 1141 begon hij aan een veldtocht in Normandië dat hij in de jaren '42 en '43 vrijwel geheel ten koste van Stefanus in bezit kon nemen. In 1144 riep hij zich uit tot hertog van Normandië. Uiteindelijk werd Stefanus gedwongen om Hendrik, Godfried en Mathildes zoon, als erfgenaam te aanvaarden waarmee Godfried de stamvader werd van het huis Plantagenet dat in directe lijn tot in 1399 op de troon zou blijven.

    Anjou bleef ook verder onder het bestuur van het huis Plantagenet tot koning Filips II van Frankrijk het gebied in 1205 wist te veroveren.
