Na de bruiloft vestigde hij zich in de boerderij aan de Andries Dekkerweg, gelegen in het Waarland, ook dat noemde men vanaf toen " 't Hol ".

    Dirk woonde met zijn gezin lange tijd in een van de oudste boerderijen in Waarland. Deze boerderij is nu gelegen aan de Andries Dekkerweg, maar stond voor de ruilverkaveling nabij de scheidingssloot tussen de Slootgaard- en Waarlandspolder.
    Dirk Bakker had een gemengd bedrijf dat door enkele van zijn kinderen en een deel van zijn kleinkinderen tot op de dag van vandaag wordt voortgezet.
