Notes about Dirk V van Holland

Dirk V (1054 - 17 juli 1091) volgde zijn vader Floris I op als graaf van Holland. Zijn moeder Geertruida van Saksen was regentes over het graafschap totdat Dirk oud genoeg was om zelf de grafelijke taken te vervullen. Dirk veroverde het land terug op de bisschop van Utrecht, waaraan Holland in 1065 tijdelijk was afgestaan. Dirk V wist de Zuid-Hollandse eilanden van het bisdom van Utrecht te ontnemen. Hij kreeg rond 1080 een zoon, Floris II en overleed in 1091. Hij werd begraven in de abdij van Egmond.
