Mogelijk heeft haar vader zich zo boos gemaakt dat hij enige maanden daarna overlijd.
Maar het was Prospers moeder die geen toestemming gaf, waardoor via de kantonrechter gehuwd werd

Het huwelijk tussen Trees en Prosper werd door haar ouders niet goedgekeurd vanwege geloofsredenen. Ze was 19 jaar en net aan een nier geopereerd (een familiekwaal) toen ze voor de kantonrechter met Prosper trouwde. Haar vader Dirk de Vries is kort daarop overleden.
