Sarah Rose Goldstein Probate Packet (San Francisco file #34469)
Sarah Rose Goldstein wrote her will 3 January 1919, several years before she died 20 June 1922. Her son Leon filed for probate and was named executor. Sarah, for personal reasons, excluded two of her children, Lulu Beale;Beel and Walter. They were each awarded the perfunctory $1.00, and if they contested, were to receive nothing. After claims and expenses, the remainder was to be split evenly among her surviving children. Each received $1892.16 in June 1923. Her childrens names and addresses are useful for placing them in 1922 and are copied below. Claims included doctors claims,
funeral expenses (Theo Dierks & Co.), burial expenses (Congregation Beth Israel) and two notes, one to son Milton ($200) and one to son Leon ($480). The estate consisted solely of a lot in Oroville, appraised at $12,500.

Obit: In this city, June 20, 1922, Sarah Rose Goldstein, beloved mother of Mrs. P. S. Beel, Mrs. C. Baum, Mrs. R. Long, Mrs. F. E. Cryder, Mrs. V. Woodfield, Mrs. J. L. Benedict, Leon A., Milton M., and Walter P. Goldstein, a native of New York. (Oroville papers please copy). Friends are invited to attend the funeral services Thursday, at 10 o'clock a.m. at the chapel of Theo. Dierks & Co., corner Divisadero and McAllister streets. Interment, Salem Cemetery. San Francisco Examiner, 6-21-1922

Stage name Frederick Trevallion is inventor of Phroso mechanical doll and Miss Genevieve A. Goldstein of SF known to the stage as Genevieve Ardel were united in marriage here in Stockton 13 march 1906. Jan Jose Evening News. The mother of Miss Ardell who is the illustrated song singer at the Novelty Theater opposed the wedding. She said her daughter was only 17 but after pleading she consented to give her blessing. Phroso recently played an engagement at the Unique Theater in this city.

13 Jan 1910 Mrs Sarah A. Goldstein who since 1863 is prominently known in SF and CA socitey left yesterday on the overland limited for extended tour of the East. Her objective will be West Point, N.Y. where she will visit her two daughters, Mrs J.L.Benedict wife of Lieutenant Bendict and Miss Vivian Pearl Goldsteins. The eastern branch of the family will hold a reunion of all its members during her stay in NY. L.A.Goldstein, long identified with the mercantile interests of the city and now one of the dept manager of S.N.Wood & co will accompany his mother.
