Richard Cribb made his will while he was living at West Bexington, Dorset, ENGLAND. The will reads"
"being very well and in good health and of sound and perfect mind and memory, do make this, my last will and testament...." To his daughter Thomasin, wife of Henry Sherring of West Bexington in the County of Dorset, the sum of one hundred pounds. "If the said Thomasin should happen to have children by the said Henry Sherring" the money" as my son-in-law Henry Sherring shall think fit" to be divided equally...To his daughter Elizabeth, wife of Henry Read of Milton in the County of Dorset, cordwainer, the sum of twenty shillings a year. His estate called Cobwill in Swyre to his son Richard, a son John was also mentioned. "I give unto Elizabeth Read a brass pott, and a brass pott and kettle to Tomasin Sherring". His son was to be his executor.
On 25th January 1738/9 a lease between Robert Browne and Henry Sherring (Sherren) was drawn up for 99 years and for 3 lives, Henry paid a fine of 130 pounds for this. The property, house, backside, garden,and a close, 3 roods and 25 acres, more or less, with the great and small tithes, but excepting all timber of whatever sort on this land was of Nether cerne, the three lives of his wife Thomasin, Henry,son of John Sherren of Pucknoll, yeoman and Christopher, son of Christopher Kellaway of Upwey, yeoman; the previous occupant had been James Norman. The rent that Henry was required to pay was fourteen shillings a year, also at the death of each of the three lives, a heriot of the best good or best beast was to be paid to Mary Sherren. {excerpt taken from Thea & Francis book}
