Notes about Sherren Lucas

Sherren was a church warden in Steeple around 1815, They had no children. After his wife died, Sherren was in Wyke Regis, living with Richard Marshallsay and family, his age was given as 70 and he was described as "independent". In the churchyard in West Knighton there is a wide, round topped imposing headstone with this wording: "Remembrance of Sherren Lucas who died April 20th 1850, aged 81 years". On the same headstone is an inscription in memory of little Henry Boyt, who had died aged 11 months. (excerpt taken from Thea & Frances book).
