Raymond Joe Sherren was born September 10, 1923 at Winthrop, Iowa the son of Joseph and Mildred Smith Sherren. He attended country school and Winthrop High School.

Raymond was united in marriage to Clara Ruth Randall on February 1, 1944 at the Methodist Church in Independence. They made their home on the Sherren farm east of Winthrop for many years until Clara died on June 17, 1963.

Raymond was a lifelong farmer who loved his home, garden, and farm. He lived on the family farm until a few years ago when he moved to Southtown Senior apartments in Winthrop and then recently to West Village Care Center in Independence.

Raymond entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at West Village Care Center in Independence following a lengthy illness at the age of 87.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clara, and a special friend Nita Havens.

He is survived by cousins and many neighbors and friends.

Friends may call from 4 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, Sept.29 and until 11 AM Thursday at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop with Pastor John Brockschink officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at Winthrop. www.fawcettsfuneralhome.com.
