Notes about Mackey CASTLEBERRY

Huxford's Pioneers of Wiregrass GA vol 2 p 59 lists his name as McKey and vol 3 p 43 lists his name as McKey and commonly call "Macky", and he was the son of Henry Castleberry 1790-1838 and Mourning unknown maiden name. Census records are recorded and spekked by the enumerator. The 1850 census record as McKey; all other census records spell the name as Mackey.

Huxford states in McKey's bio in Vol 3 states that the homeplace of McKey's father was located on land lot 330 in the 9th land dist of Berrien now Cook Co, GA. McKey's widowed mother, Mourning, and his brothers and sisters, Zacheus, Sallie, Joseph, and Martha, deeded the home place to him on 25 Sep 1852 as recorded Deed BK "B" pg 101 Berrien Co, GA. Huxford further states that McKey and wife, Mary Ann, had five unnamed children, and parents and children were buried Rountree Cem [aka Evergreen] in Cook Co, G
