Leen is na zijn huwelijk op de boerderij Zuidbroek (nu 127) gekomen van zijn vader Han, daarna begonnen al gouw de slechte crissis jaren ,de pacht prijzen aan opa liepen op de inkomsten werden stee
ds slechter.er is toen besloten dat Opa zelf weer boer werd en leen de Knecht,ook opa kon het niet bolwerken zodat in juni 1939 alles is verkocht,en boelhuis gehouden.

Leen verhuisden 2 huizen n
aar richting dorp Zuidbroek (nu 123) wat hij kon huren van Wumpie de Jong uit Ouderkerk a/d IJssel huurprijs F3,95 per week,als Leen een maand vooruit betaalde kreeg hij 5cent per week korting.Het was
voor Leen hard werken en dat deet hij met zijn Jannekee, in 1947 Kocht hij dit boerderijtje (zonder land )voor F3000.00 wat hij contant kon betalen.

Hij werkte met zijn Jannekee hart aan een nieuw
klein bedrijfje van Pluimvee en Fokzeugen en daarbij nog bij een baas werken in de wegenbouw of waar dan ook,waar hij het meest kon verdienen, op zijn 60e stopte hij met het bij een baas werken en in
1970 heeft hij het spul verkocht voor F89000,00 en kocht een huis (2 onder een kap) in de Beatrixstraat te Bergambacht. (Bron: Johan van der Bas)
