In St. Peter's Lutheran Church records, her name is given as "Marie Charlotte".

 

According to William Earl Carothers, Charlotte was the only one in her family who remembered Herman. The family lived with him on the Behrman home place north of Waymansville. Charlotte, Mable, and Mildred were born there, as was their father, John. According to William's mother, the house was destroyed by fire some years later. Charlotte's brother, Earl, was born in Columbus in Grandpa Strietelmeier's house.

 

Charlotte was manager of the school cafeteria at St. Peter's Lutheran School for 26 years. She had also worked for the M.O. Reeves, Clara Forster, and H. Lee Bassett families. Charlotte never married.

CHARLOTTE BEHRMAN FUNERAL FRIDAY

Funeral for Charlotte M. Behrman, 89, of California Street will be

conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mark R. Teike officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Fund Us Faithful Fund at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Bartholomew County Area Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.

Miss Behrman died at 8:39 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1996, at Columbus Health

and Rehabilitation Center.

She was manager of the cafeteria at St. Peter's Lutheran School for 26 years and also had worked for the M.O. Reeves, Clara Forster and H. Lee Bassett families. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sewing Circle and Sunday Afternoon Club, North Wayne Home Economics Club, Columbus Senior Center and several bridge clubs. Miss Behrman was born in Bartholomew County Aug. 26, 1906, the daughter of John H. and Clara Strietelmeier Behrman. She is survived by a brother, Earl J. Behrman of Columbus. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Carothers and Mable Meier.
