She is married to John Herman Fredrick BEHRMAN.
They got married on October 4, 1905 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbus, IN by Pastor Fred Wambegause, she was 22 years old.
Child(ren):
Her dad, Fredrick W. Strietelmeier was born October 25, 1840, at West Capital in Germany. In the year 1846, at the age of 6 years, Fredrick came to America with his parents. Six weeks was required to make the trip from Germany to New Orleans, where they landed. From here, they continued up the Mississippi River until they reached Cairo, Illinois. Here they met with misfortune. A brother died from Cholera and was buried at Cairo. They continued up the Ohio River.
Mary Gausman Strietelmeier, mother, was born August 19, 1842, in Westphalen, Germany. She came from Germany in 1858, at the age of 15, with her parents. They, too, landed at New Orleans and went to Cincinnati. On March 27, 1867, Fredrick W. Strietelmeier was united in marriage with Mary Gausman. They had ten children. One of them was my grandma--Clara Strietelmeier, who was born in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In 1887, Nov. 28, the father, mother, and eight children moved to Columbus, Indiana. (Two of the children had died.)
After her husband died, Clara Strietelmeier Behrman did not have social security. Her livelihood came from several rental homes that she owned, in addition to insurance money. She owned a house on State Street in Columbus, Indiana. When Earl and Dorothy Mae Behrman got married, Clara and her daughter Charlotte lived in one side of the house. Earl and Dorothy Mae lived in the other side with their children Kay, Donna, and Deanna until they built their house which is at 2805 State Street, Columbus, Indiana.
